I am very new to this forum and have been spending some time here just over the past few weeks. I am trying to learn the ropes of this EB green card system. As someone pointed, I belong to those on the "fence" not knowing what or how to be effective with my time and money in these efforts. I like this thread and I think I want to begin my involvement through this effort.
My opinion is that we don't need a 1000 people to contribute to reach $100000 for the effort. Those who are willing to give $100 would not, I think, hesitate to give another $100 or even more to speed up the process. I for one will contribute $200 and if necessary more for this effort.

Man-woman-gc just gave a ballpark - 100 is bare minimum, of course more than that is always welcome, i see a 500 dollars too ;-)

Just speaking 100 languages and celebrating 100 festivals and females not mingling with males thus keeping away from social life etc...is not culture. Ur every day news is culture as well. Wake up to reality and make the choice when u have the liberty to make it.
All said, its ur choice end of the day. Weighing b/w the good and bad and if ur tax money is put to good use or what? I think the writing on the wall is clear and can easily make out the differences b/w white and black. But again thats just me. 5 fingers are not the same.

I agree there are many issues we have back home but after all it is our country -:)
there is something that pulls me back to and we are also thinking we will go back in the next couple of years. It will not be easy as we love this country too...but then one of the main reasons we are going back is the way is the culture here... I am not very comfortable with the culture here and would like my kids to have the Indian culture...I agree there is a lot of westernization back home too...but I guess there is some hope there still to have a little control on the kids...or help them go the right way...here I am not saying it is wrong...but is a totally different culture....which is what I am not able to digest....
Also, we are alone here no family or extended family and that too is not easy (I think)

I respect this country a lot and love this country (and my country too -:) ...I am what I am today because of India and US.
If we end up going (I am sure at some point we will), we will always be greatful to America !!!

Don't know why my file is still pending (RD 6/18), present EAD expiring in 2 weeks..:)
My EAD renewal is pending as well - RD 6/18 - present EAD expiring on 9/25. I requested expediting processing on 8/13 and received a letter yesterday saying they are reviewing my request and will have a decision in 60 days : :rolleyes:

Congrats!
Usually there will be another message "Notice welcoming permanrent resident sent" . Then, after a few days there will be "Approval notice sent" , the physical approval notice goes to your attorney. You should receive the physical card within 7-10 days.

I got Notice welcoming new PR email on 8/5 and nothing after that.

I will have to check with my attorney. But, my I-140 approval came from TSC but my I-485 application was sent to NSC.
If anyone else has had a similar experience, please post your update here.

SAME WITH ME. MY 140 WAS APPROVED AT TSC BUT MY LAWYER SAID ALL SHOULD FILE 485 AT NSC ADN THEY WILL FORWARD TO TSC. STAY IN CONTACT.

in trouble. I am not on H1 but I think the moment you get H1, in this case COS from H4 to H1 within few months you should have paying job. There will be problem at time of extension if no paystubs are present. Bench or not employer need to Pay H1b if he has hired one.

On August 7, 2008, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

The link in my earlier post is a job advertisement which clearly states that EAD folks need not apply. There are 1000s of folks out there who are eligible for that position, but for the EAD restriction.
As per I-9 form
Any person wrongly discriminated due to EAD expiration date has the option of seeking claims for damages caused by the other party in court of law. I am not aware of any case involving such facts.

Do you believe in what IV is doing?
If Yes, i will really appreciate if you can contribute and help us in any way. This is an organisation run by people like me and you, who have full time jobs and have families also. If we all can take out some time out of our busy lives and try to help IV, then everyone will know about IV.
When we say we need to convince people, which is ridiculous, as i am 100% sure, everybody knows whats going on. We all are suffering and are here fort he long haul. If still people dont want to do anything, then no one can help us.
So, Thanks a lot for your insight and help IV to help yourself.

Most desis are not even aware about this organization. I bumped into it via google search for my immigration answer. So lets throw some ideas around for better advertisements.

Agreed. $5000 is about the same amount a single student paid to TVU, the diploma mill. This used to be the price 1 employee paid a fraud DCC for processing a Green card.
