Please contact members of congress by clicking on the action alert below.
It will only take less than a minute for you. We are requesting adding amendments in the DREAM Act coming up. This campaign will help the DC advocacy work we are doing on this bill.
ImmigrationVoice.org - Advocacy -- DREAM Act: Help the Legal Immigrants (http://immigrationvoice.capwiz.com/immigrationvoice/issues/alert/?alertid=19787501)
Please spread the word everywhere for more participation
Please post on this thread once you have sent the email. Keep this thread up for the next few days.
In addition to sending the emails to the lawmakers, please take the next steps needed to get our provisions included in the Dream Act:
1. Take appointments and meet with lawmakers explaining our provisions to the lawmakers and the need to add them to dream act. Focus on the specific message of the action alert. Following up with the email alert is a powerful advocacy tool and crucial to the success of this campaign. If you have taken an appointment, please contact IV at 202-386-6250.
2. For members who have already established a relation with the staff members in the lawmaker offices, please contact them and explain our provisions to be included in the dream act. Focus on the specific message of the action alert.
3. Send the feedback from the meetings to http://immigrationvoice.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=98&Itemid=132
4. Become a volunteer to spread the message about this action alert. Simply clicking on the link above does not complete our task - it only begins the task of grass-roots advocacy. Convince your friends, colleagues to get involved in the above tasks. Numbers Matter. Use the attached flier and post it at all indian/asian malls, theaters and other hubs to help spread the message. Also include the flier in your signature.

How about we come up with a skit where we can reenact the drama about the whole episode in a funny way. Where we can have people portraying roles of USCIS Director, Secrtary of State, Immigrants calling franctically to India to get their documents, parents running around to get doucments, the start of rumor, the employees of uscis working on sunday to adjudicate the cases, then the flip flop of DOS. etc. Then we can put this on youtube and will attract publicity.

Per my lawyer,
1. USCIS does not mandate that you must inform when you invoke AC21. You can inform them if and when you get RFE.
2. I strongly believe that we should not accept job offers that is not related to the job you originally applied for. My lawyer says it is usually vague and if USCIS determines other wise I will be in trouble. And for the same reason I am hesitant to accept very good employee offer from my current client.
3. Self employment is ok as long as the requirements are met and that is what is I am doing now.
You are not informing USCIS about it .
So just just accept employment from another employer ..just change the job or is there any paperwork involded like transfer of any documents or GC processing ?
what do you mean by invoking ?
Thank you.

Section 205. Retaining Workers Subject to Green Card Backlog.
* Allows foreign workers who have started the green card process, but who are subject to green card backlogs, to pay a $500.00 supplemental fee to file an application to adjust status. This change would enable foreign workers to remain in the U.S. until the green card becomes available.
If above is the case, then AC21 could be used by anyone who files for AOS.

Hi Ahimsa and other poster who questioned this:
Why SKULL bill ? As a high level manager I have learned after years of experience that you need to use good sense of humor, satirize when confronted with insanities and very stressful situations. In my life such a twaddle this immigration process has been that I need to come up to this forum and sometimes make some of us laugh a little bit from this situation. Calling it SKULL bill is a way to apply my sense of humor to this process. Please do not take this as an offense.
Please, please. Folks, didn't you see immigration-law.com and AILA.org - a reliable pro immigration sources - outlining that that anti CIR calls outnumbered the pro CIR calls 400:1 ? Go to AILA.org and research the info there by yourself if you don't trust me.
One more indication for you, which doesn't rely on biased polls:
In spite of massive lobby and muscles leveraged by the corporate sector, why do you think immigration bills - both pro legal and pro illegal - have been unsuccessful in the last two years ? Come on guys, by now you should not be questioning whether the public is against amnesty or even legal immigration. It is evident that the majority of citizens do not benefit from more immigration. Do you have an idea how much lobbying $ got involved on this without much success so far ? I am surprised that you are even raising this question. Why Americans should want more foreigners to compete with them when the real wages have declined ? That would defy logic.
Here, a fresh related evidence. Those who have an open mind should be able to understand this:
http://diversity.monster.com/articles/coming_to_america/?WT.mc_n=MNL000283
Does the Workplace Welcome Differ?
Are Americans more welcoming to Asian immigrants than to Hispanics/Latinos? C.N. Le, who directs the Asian American Studies Program at the University of Massachusetts, calls it "a complicated issue." She thinks that "Americans in general are becoming slightly less welcoming to immigrants in general. Part of it has to do with illegal immigration, but it spills over and affects legal immigrants too. There is always workplace tension between those who gets jobs, and those who get left out."
Talk about this article and get advice on the Diversity at Work message board.
Here is a fresh poll for you, since you asked:
source:numbersusa.com (the poll was not conducted by numbersusa.com though).

Immigration is a demographic imperative for America and the rest of the western world. Fact is the modern western cultures that empower women, encourage them to the workplace, make contraception/abortion freely available and make alternative lifestyles a choice, leads to a drop in fertility rates. Liberal leaning countries have amongst the lowest fertility rates, well below replacement levels.
The above makes it an imperative to import labour and yes sheer people to take care of the old and infirm, to keep the service sector rolling even if manufacturing etc is outsourced. The only question is what kind of immigration and how much of it. In short the answer is the USA is not a dumb country, it generally always acts in its self interest faced with these choices. I believe EB immigration will soon be liberalised. This would be a smart thing especially if coupled with a crackdown on illegal immigration.
US population is growing yes, but the elderly population is exploding. More are getting older (baby boomers) and once there there they are sticking aroung longer. I wish there was a measure of working age population only, the growth of that population is probably much less than that of the general population.

If you have any emergency to go out of country or to change jobs, you can get your passport stamped by taking an Infopass appointment or you can request IO to upload the Biometrics to TSC. you will get the card in 10 or 15 business days after uploading the biometrics. either way your GC is approved..so no worries.
My answer is depending on my experience with GC.

We paid money and asking for proper transparent service. There are so many inconsistencies about the way USCIS/DOS operate and utter lack of transparency in case handling. Added to this the process is complicated forcing us to spend $$ with lawyers. If I am paying money I need to know how USCIS is going to give me the service. And once known, USCIS should make it transparent so I know that they are sticking with it. THere was an excellent compilation that I saw few days back about the inefficiencies in USCIS.
We cannot accept that they have 1million application and so they are faltering. If they cannot handle that many why take $$ from us. They could had streamlined resources/applications, etc.. but why is it my problem. I have been lawful and following all the rules. Now when will it ever be USCIS/DOS turn? Investing 10 + years in US and going back is not acceptable...

1) Read about how treacherous a path they take when they cross the border. The position they were in their home country is what drives them to risk life to get to a place where they can find a better life and moreover provide a better life to family back at home , whom they may not see even once in few years.
Once you have a fair understanding of their path, in my opinion, you will never compare yourself with them and feel bad about few things that may have gone right for them.
2)The government bringing them to the front of the line is definitely injustice to people who are already there in the queue as well as to those who are going to apply legally in future. They should make sure they don't get precedence over the current applicants and they have to make sure the don't create a block for the future legal applicants.
And none of us should even complain when millions of illegals are suddenly made legal by the Government and they jump the line in front of us for no fault of ours and there are EB3s still waiting from 2001. The illegals have taken a risk right by jumping across the border and staying here illegally???
:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Hi,
Can someone explain the process of using AC21 for self employment? I have searched the web without much luck. If someone can throw some light on this topic along with how to deal with issues that come up with AC21 and self employment I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
Check out www.shusterman.com and it has a section on AC 21 180 day portability. There you will find all the USCIS memos regarding this topic (starting from 2001 to 2003 and the 2 memos in 2005). The last memo from December 2005 addresses the issue and the way I understand it, it means you can have self employment while waiting for the final approval. But you still have to have an employer at the time of final approval of I 485 in the job category mentioned in LC and I 140.
Regards.
